This is one of those short hikes that still gives your legs a proper workout. The Victoria Falls Track is about 4 to 5 km return and usually takes around two to three hours, depending on how long you hang out at the falls. With roughly 330 metres of elevation, it definitely makes you earn the views. The trail drops you deep into the valley with two beautiful waterfalls waiting at the bottom, Victoria Falls and Silver Cascades.
The walk starts with a steep descent through lush forest and a series of switchbacks. There are plenty of stairs, and you’ll feel every one of them on the way back up. About halfway down you’ll reach a signpost. Right takes you to Silver Cascades and left continues to the base of Victoria Falls.
Make sure to visit both. The cascades are peaceful and shaded, while the main waterfall at the bottom is huge, way bigger than it looks from above. There’s a pool at the base if you feel like cooling off before starting the climb.
It’s short but steep, so bring plenty of water and take your time. I’ve done this one a few times and it still gets me every single time. The rainforest, the sound of the falls, and the views down in the valley make it so worth it.
