Ngaityung Falls via Mount Bushwalker Walking Track

Morton National Park

An easy, steady walk with some of the best views on the South Coast. The track starts from the Mount Bushwalker car park and follows a mix of dirt trail and boardwalk through open bushland. It’s mostly flat and well maintained, with plenty of scenic spots along the way.

After a few kilometres you reach the main lookout, a small metal platform with a huge view over the Budawang Ranges and Pigeon House Mountain in the distance. It’s a great spot to stop for a break or just take it in for a while.

From here you can turn back or continue on to Ngaityung Falls. The path beyond the lookout is less defined and it’s easy to veer off the main route, so it’s important to have a map saved offline. Cairns mark the way through the bush and across open rock platforms. It’s mostly flat with a few slightly overgrown sections.

At the end the track opens to the top of the waterfall where a shallow creek runs into a few rock pools before dropping into the valley. I stopped here for lunch, easily one of the quietest spots I’ve ever eaten at. I didn’t see a single person on the trail all day. The only sounds were the water and wind through the trees.

The walk back was just as nice, especially with the sun setting across the ridges. The light hit the cliffs perfectly on the return and made it feel like a completely different walk.

There’s a long drop toilet at the car park but no water, and the access road has a few gravel sections although it’s fine for most cars.

A peaceful and rewarding half-day hike with incredible views and a hidden waterfall at the end.
