The Pool of Siloam and Lyrebirds Dell Circuit is a short loop in Leura that feels surprisingly remote for how close it is to town. It’s about 2 km long with 140 metres of elevation and gives you a good taste of the Blue Mountains, with forest trails, sandstone overhangs and a quiet waterfall tucked in the valley.
The walk starts from the Gordon Falls picnic area where there’s parking, toilets and picnic tables. The track winds through shaded bushland before a steep staircase leads down to the Pool of Siloam, a small waterfall dropping into a clear natural pool surrounded by ferns. It usually flows year-round but is most impressive after rain.
From there, the trail climbs back up through Lyrebird Dell, passing another small waterfall and a sandstone overhang that was once used as a shelter by the Gundungurra and Darug peoples, the Traditional Custodians of this area. It’s a short climb but the stairs make it a decent leg workout before looping back to the picnic area.
It’s an easy, family-friendly walk and a great one to take kids on.
If you want a longer version, start from Links Road instead. It adds some extra stairs and a bit more elevation, making it about 4 km return.
Short and quiet, this is a nice, easy option for a relaxed morning or afternoon in the mountains.
